New York City Tours - Daily Sight Seeing Tours of New York City
Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will you come pick me up at my hotel?
A. Yes. There is no charge from any of the hotels on our list. If you want to be picked up at another hotel there would be a small fee per group, not per person. Call for pricing.
Q. Will you drop me back at my hotel?
A. New York Tours has over 72 hotels or alternative pick up locations that we will pick you up and drop you off at the end of the day for free. All others will be a slight charge per group not per person. Call for pricing.
Q. What happens if I do not get up in time?
A. Just like an airline you are reserving a seat, a seat that could be sold to someone else. With that in mind, reserved seats will not be refunded. All tickets are non refundable unless cancelled at least 12 hours in advance of the departure time.
Q. What do we do from pick up time until our tour starts?
A. You will enjoy a video put together by New York Tours about some of the history and landmarks of New Jersey.
Q. Do you make bathroom stops?
A. We don't need to. The coach is equipped with a lavatory for your convenience and is sanitized twice daily.
Q. Will I have enough time on Liberty and Ellis Island?
A. We try to give you 4 to 5 hours from the time we drop you off to the time we pick you back up. For some this is too much time, for others it is not enough time (Note: This is 3 to 4 hours in the off season: September-May) due to ferry schedule changes. You can call 1877 Lady Tix for an updated schedule.
Q. Can we go up into the Statue?
A. Yes you can. The torch is closed, but you need to buy special tickets ahead of time (sometimes up to 60 days in advance) in order to guarantee you can go up. Keep in mind we drop you off at Liberty State Park in New Jersey anywhere from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Due to the traffic conditions we can not guarantee arrival times.
Q. If I get a timed ticket and we are late what happens?
A. Not a problem. The special tickets do not cost anymore than your ferry ticket over. So you could still go over to the Statue, but you might not be able to go up.
Q. Would it make sense for me to go to the Statue on my own?
A. That is a question that depends on each individual and group. Let me just say this, there are only 2 complaints we get on our tour. Number one; I did not have enough time on the Islands, number two; there was too much time on the Islands. So as you can see everyone is different.
Q Do you always stop at Liberty State Park for the Statue of Liberty?
A. NO.  95% of the time we do drop you at Liberty State Park to get the ferry over to the Islands. But there are occasions due to traffic or ferry schedule changes that we will drop you off at Battery Park in New York. Please remember that no matter what we always pick you back up at Liberty State Park in Jersey City N.J. Your driver will give you the correct directions.
Q What if I take the wrong ferry and get off at Battery Park N.Y.?
A. Remember we always pick you up at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey. The driver and tour guide will remind you before you get off the bus.
Q. Are the pick up times strictly adhered to?
A. We try to stay on schedule. As a matter of fact we run early quite often so please be ready at least 20 minutes ahead of schedule. You will get a courtesy call early in the morning if we know of schedule changes.
Q. Do we have time to go up into the Empire State Building?
A. No. Unfortunately we do not have time for you to go into all the attractions. The tour is designed to give you an overlook of New York so you can pick and choose what you would like to go back and spend more time in, on your own. After the tour you should feel more comfortable about finding your way around on your own.
Q. What if I do not want to get off at all the stops?
A. Not a problem. You can stay on the bus with the driver if you like. Remember you are with the same tour guide coach driver and group all day. So if you do not want to get off, simply sit back and relax, you can rejoin the group when they get back on.
Q. What if I get separated from the group?
A. We will make our best effort of finding you. But remember there could be 40 other people on the tour so it is your responsibility to stick with the group or tour guide. We are all adults and need to follow directions and be considerate of the whole group so we can give you the best tour possible.
Q. Do we get to go into St. Patrick’s Cathedral?
A. The only times you would not get to go in is when there are services going on.
Q. Will I have a chance to shop on your tour?
A. Not really. If you can grab something from one of the many street vendors on your way back from your short walks, and not interrupt the tour, that would be fine.
Q. Do we get to go up to the Top of the Rock?
A. No. There is no time for that. You would have to go back and do that on your own.
Q. Does New York Tours stop at every attraction listed?
A. There are no guarantee’s due to traffic and other conditions, but if we miss one place we may add something else. Example: If Grand Central got closed down for some reason, we would get out in, say, Greenwich Village.
Q. How much time do we get at each attraction?
A. That all depends on you and everyone else on the tour. If everyone cooperates, it will take from 20 to 30 minutes depending on the attraction.
Q. When and where do we stop to eat?
A. We normally give you a chance to grab something to bring back on the bus at either Grand Central Station or Greenwich Village. The main stop for lunch is on the all day tour at Liberty and Ellis Island. You may pack a lunch in a small cooler or coolers and bring it on the coach.
Q. How do I pay for my tour?
A. You can use Visa, Master Card, cash, or a traveler’s check on the day of the tour. If you book ahead of time you can use a personal check, Visa or Master Card.
Q. Do you offer private tours?
A. Yes, New York Tours offers private tours for 1 to 100 people. Call for special pricing.
Q. What other tours do you offer?
A. We can do custom tours designed especially for your group. From 1 passenger to 100, we can cover all 5 Borough’s of New York at any time you might want.

A. We use large enclosed 55 passenger coaches with reclining seats, air conditioning, and a lavatory. They are the most comfortable coaches in New York. For small groups, fifteen passenger vans and private cars will be provided.
Q. Can I bring a baby stroller?
A. Absolutely, our coaches have baggage compartments underneath to store just about anything.
Q. Are tips included?
A. No, tips are not included.
Q. What is a fair tip?
A. We do not suggest any special amount. If you enjoyed yourself, give whatever you can afford.
Q. Can we bring carry on bags?
A. Absolutely. Unlike our competition, we have coaches equipped with under loaders and overhead storage, and there is plenty of room under your seats.
Q. What other expenses should we expect?
A. There are no hidden fees or taxes. Your price includes everything besides your ferry ticket to Liberty and Ellis Island. Other expenses might be for any food or souvenirs you might want to purchase.
Q. Can I do the all day tour, but stay in New York?
A. Yes, as a matter of fact you would only get charged for the half day tour. We would drop you off at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, instead of coming back to us; you would take the New York ferry back to the Battery Park in New York.
Q. Why should I take New York Tours?

A. New York Tours offers the highest quality tour in New York for the best price. Remember we are a small privately owned company with no CEO’s or sale person, trying to make a commission. When you talk to someone from New York Tours, you talk to the owners, so you are going to get the best advice and service you can get because we want you to be happy and tell others.

We are the number 1 rated tour company with all of the hotels on our list. This is not because we pay them, but because all these hotels want to keep their customers happy and coming back. They are all number 1 in customer service and that is why they use us. So, do not be fooled by big corporate companies working on big commissions and big pay outs. We at New York Tours pride ourselves on service and devotion to all of our customers.

So, go with a company that truly cares and not one that herds you like cattle or takes advantage of you because you’re a tourist. Telling you they are number 1 and giving you a huge list of places they stop, but mean while they cover 3 stops in 1 stop, or try to get you with a free bottle of water (There cost 20 cents, but than charge you $69.00 for the same tour we do.

Go with the company that understands what it costs to travel with children, our child price is over $20 cheaper on the full day price than the adult fare.
